This is my dear friend and fellow realtor hugging the fireman who fought back flames all night to save her home.
Wednesday, late evening, a Santa Rosa Beach resident started a fire that quickly raged out of control. It was a particularly windy evening, and the flames spread rapidly across the dry longleaf pines, jumping Hwy 98 around Thompson Road. The blaze burned over 575 acres and 33 homes within hours. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries or fatalities.
Two agents in our office lost everything, my sweet friend pictured here just learned her home will have to be completely gutted and another friend went to work that morning and learned later that her house and car were a total loss.
The beauty of 30A goes beyond the turquoise water and white sand beaches. We are a tight-knit community; we care about each other deeply and look out for one another. We have all banded together to take care of our neighbors in need. In just a few days, thousands of dollars have been donated. Local hotels and management companies have offered temporary housing. Restaurants are giving food, and we will continue the support until every last family is safe and home again.
